Each branch is responsible for the initial and follow up training of their examiners. Training meetings additionally are scheduled on a routine basis in the branch offices.

Corporate Quality Assurance

In addition to the hands-on training from the Branch Manager, the examiners' work is evaluated by the Quality Assurance team, which is comprised of nursing and health care professionals.

Three components of the audits performed by the Quality Assurance group are Branch reviews, monthly Complaint logs and new examiner training on ECGs. In addition physician credentialing is completed by Quality Assurance group.

Quality Assurance Branch Review

Twice a year each designated branch is required to send to QA copies of the last two paramedical exams and corresponding lab slips completed by every examiner in the branch. In addition LTC exams and ECGs completed are reviewed at this time. After the reviews are completed, each branch receives a report showing the analysis and grades for examiner completion of paperwork submitted. The report keys provide definitions of the abbreviations used including the company standard and the standard deviation.

The data provided by the branch reviews shows each branch how their work compares with the work of all other branches. At a glance the report shows exactly where improvements can be made by each examiner to meet our client's needs.

Complaint Log

Another method used to ensure PORTAMEDIC's standards are being met is the complaint log database. The purpose of the complaint log is to receive feedback from our clients regarding the services rendered. This information is entered into a computerized database. The monthly complaint log is comprised of errors compiled from computer data received from LabOne, Met Lab and Osborn, as well as errors submitted by additional labs and Clients directly. Each Branch manager receives information concerning their branch for counseling and re-training of examiners with inaccuracies.

Monthly report are generated and distributed to field management so the information can be used to determine how PORTAMEDIC client services can be improved.
